Responsibilities
Position Description
The Group Youth is the recognized point of contact on issues of program satisfaction and evaluation between the youth and Group Committee. The Group Youth shall be a catalyst for promoting meaningful youth involvement within the group and seeing that youth initiatives are actively supported and recognized in consultation with the Group Scouter.
Basically, a group youth represents the views and opinions of their group's members at the area level. They may also be involved in planning area youth events. It should be noted that a group youth should be at least scout age (i.e. scout, Venturer, or rover). In groups with only beavers and cubs or both, a Kim or Keeo may be the group youth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Have fun
- Facilitate Local Youth involvement (i.e.. Court of Honour, Venturer Executive, Rover Round Table, Sixer council)
- Develop leadership potential in youth as future Group Youth Rep
- Deliver event information to youth
- Work closely with Group Scouter
- Attend Area Youth Forum, Group Committee meetings
- Prepare and present a Group Youth Representative report for meetings of the Area Youth Forum.
- Prepare brief reports for submission to the Group Chair at regular group meetings.

Time Required
Approximately 1 hour per week
Qualifications
- Enthusiastic
- Committed
- Communication Skills
- Team player
- Knowledge of Scouts Canada programs
Appointment
In consultation with group section youth and leaders, the Group Scouter selects the Group Youth to be appointed by the D.A.C. Youth annually
Tenure
Will not serve more than 3 years consecutively.
